The Buffalo Bulls looked very impressive this season, and the Ball State Cardinals will have their work cut out for them in Friday’s MAC title game. Buffalo went unbeaten in the regular season and looks to remain without a loss as it heads into the bowl game.

Here are the opening odds for the MAC Championship Game from DraftKings Sportsbook:

Opening odds

Point Spread: Buffalo -12.5
Point Total: 66.5

How they got here

Buffalo rolled through the MAC and is clearly the team to beat in the conference, crushing all five opponents the Bulls faced this fall. Head coach Lance Leipold has Buffalo playing at a high level among the rest of the MAC, and he should be getting plenty of consideration for his next step up in the coaching industry.

Last weekend after some massive drama and a few nervous moments, the Ball State Cardinals hung on for a 30-27 victory over the Western Michigan Broncos in what was the default MAC West title game. Ball State finished the season at 5-1, and did it by forcing 11 turnovers in just six games this season.

Bowl implications

No team from the MAC will come anywhere close to a New Year’s Six bowl game, and it’s tough to project where either team will fit among the bowls. The conference has plenty of bowl affiliations, but the MAC does not slot teams based on how good they are. Instead, the games are based on best matchups and geography.
