Tight end Dallas Goedert lead the Philadelphia Eagles in receiving last week. He caught five passes on seven targets for 66 yards. This happened as Zach Ertz made his first appearance since Week 6. On the surface, it look as though Goedert is once again a decent fantasy football option this week, but the change at quarterback makes it a little riskier.
Fantasy Football analysis: Eagles TEs Dallas Goedert, Zach Ertz
Wentz leaned hard on his tight ends, and it’s made Goedert a solid TE1 in recent weeks. This was the first game since Week 10 he had less than 70 yards and didn’t find the end zone. With the quarterback change to Jalen Hurst, we don’t know if the rookie will lean on a security blanket tight end the same way a struggling Carson Wentz did. But we do know that the Eagles are just going to completely trash the playbook either. Besides, it’s not as if they have the most capable bunch of wide receivers either.
They play the Saints this week too, a difficult matchup. New Orleans hasn’t allowed a tight end to find the end zone since Week 5, and only two players have had more than 20 yards in a game against them during that same stretch. Goedert is established enough to get the benefit of the doubt as a TE2 this week, but I’d leave Ertz for someone else.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Start Dallas Goedert at TE2. Sit Zach Ertz.
