The New Orleans Saints running backs have a great matchup this week against the Philadelphia Eagles. Both Alvin Kamara and Latavius Murray have remained productive while Drew Brees is out of action, though with some caveat to their statistics. Nevertheless, this is a good week to have Kamara in your fantasy football lineups, but the picture is a little cloudier when it comes to Murray.
Fantasy Football analysis: Saints RBs Alvin Kamara, Latavius Murray
Kamara was back in a clear No. 1 role last week against the Falcons. He had 15 carries to just five for Murray, with 88 rushing yards and a touchdown. It’s notable because the week before that, it was all Murray in the ground game; he had 19 carries for 124 yards and a pair of touchdowns. It may have something to do with the foot injury that Kamara has been dealing with lately.
Still, it’s logical to assume that Kamara is back to being the team’s top option out of the backfield, as he’s clearly the most talented of the two. What’s most notable about his stats lately, however, is how few passing targets he’s seeing without Brees. It caps his fantasy value to some extent.
The good news this week is that the Eagles have been bleeding points to opposing running backs lately. They’ve given up five rushing touchdowns to the position in their last four games, and two players have topped the 100-yard mark for rushing.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Start Alvin Kamara at RB1. Start Latavius Murray as a Flex or RB3.
