Wednesday, Week 15 update: The Texans activated David Johnson from the Covid-19 IR list. He will be eligible to play this Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.
Friday update: Johnson has been placed on the Covid-19 list. Duke Johnson will take over as the lead back against the Bears.
Head coach Romeo Crennel says Houston Texans running back David Johnson may not make the trip to Chicago due to personal reasons, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. As we’ve seen with the Denzel Mims situation, leaving the team means a player would need to pass through Coivd-19 protocols before he can return. That means that Johnson wouldn’t be able to return in time if he does leave the team.
If Johnson can’t play, we would again see Duke Johnson in the lead role. Johnson wasn’t able to put up consistent fantasy numbers with David out earlier in the year, but did have one strong game against the Lions. Of course, the Bears defense should be better than Lions, if you don’t pay too much attention to last week. Johnson would have some flex appeal in PPR leagues, but he’s still risky.
David Johnson has been uninspiring as a fantasy play this season, but did score a touchdown in his return last week. If he does end up playing, he’d still be startable.
