Game day update: Last week, Rookie running back Jonathan Taylor turned in his second-straight 90-yard performance against a less than stellar Texans’ defense. Taylor played 48 percent of offensive snaps, recorded 135 total yards of offense, and a touchdown after missing not seeing the field in Week 12. Meanwhile, Nyheim Hines only had 32 yards of total offense and a rushing touchdown.
That being said, it appears that Taylor has the RB1 spot locked up and should be able to have another solid game on the ground Sunday. This season, the Las Vegas Raiders’ defense is allowing 14 rushing touchdowns to opposing running backs. ESPN projects Taylor to put up 11.3 fantasy points, while Hines to score 8.6 points.
Fantasy Football analysis: Colts RBs Jonathan Taylor, Nyheim Hines
Taylor has gained over 100 total yards in his last two games played. Though he was out for Week 12, Taylor didn’t miss a beat in Week 13, rushing for 91 yards and hauling in his first receiving touchdown of the season, a 39-yard score. Taylor’s 22.50 point performance is his best of the year. After seeing what Jets’ running backs Ty Johnson (22 attempts, 104 yards, TD) and Josh Adams (8 attempts, 74 yards) were able to do against the Raiders’ run defense last week, I don’t doubt that the Colts’ game plan will be much different with Taylor. Las Vegas is also 31st in the league in rushing touchdowns allowed.
After a solid 17.50-point showing and getting the start in Week 12, Hines saw just three targets from the backfield and was held under 30 receiving yards in Week 13, both being his lowest categorically since Week 9. He did score on a five-yard rush to salvage a borderline FLEX-worthy 12.20-point performance, though. But again, after seeing how effective Taylor was in both the running and passing games last week, and now being going against a defense that was just gashed by a Jets team that has been inefficient in every aspect of the game, I’m fading Hines.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Start Jonathan Taylor. Sit Nyheim Hines.
