The Florida Atlantic Owls are playing for a bowl game, but they best not overlook the 2-7 Southern Miss Golden Eagles. The two teams are tied 17-17 as halftime approaches in a Week 15 contest in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
It’s been a back-and-forth affair, and the highlight thus far has to be Frank Gore Jr. He broke off a 73-yard touchdown run that tied the game at 7 in the first quarter. The son of NFL great Frank Gore has 105 yards and the score on six carries as well as a six-yard reception.
Gore is Southern Miss’s leading running back this season. He had only rushed for 597 yards entering this game, but was averaging 5.3 yards per carry. This score his second rushing touchdown of the season, to go along with 91 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Gore is a true freshman, having committed last fall as a three-star prospect. He’s not quite the prospect his dad was, but he’s off to a strong start in his college career. What are the odds he develops into a pro prospect over the next couple years AND his dad remains around the NFL for them to play together? It is unlikely, but never doubt a Gore!
FRANK GORE JR. JUST DOING GORE FAMILY THINGS!!
