The New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims will not be able to play this week, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The rookie receiver needs to deal with a family issue and won’t be able to pass through Covid-19 protocols in time to return by Sunday.
Mims’ absence should give more work to Breshad Perriman and Jamison Crowder in a game against a weak Seattle Seahawks pass defense. Perriman is still dealing with a shoulder injury, but should be able to play this week.
Mims missed the first six weeks of the season with a hamstring injury, but has shown good ability with six games with 40 or more receiving yards and a strong 17.1 yards per reception. It’s too bad that he couldn’t get to play in this positive matchup.
Mims will likely be back next week, when the team heads to Los Angeles to take on the Rams, one of the best defenses in the league.
