Friday update: Coach Kliff Kingsbury says that Drake will be a game time decision against the Dolphins, per Kyle Odegard. Hopefully we’ll learn more before Sunday’s early games, but for now we wait.
Wednesday update: Kenyan Drake was back at practice on Wednesday, per Kyle Odergard. Drake’s ankle injury wasn’t as bad as first thought, so he looks like he’ll have a real chance to play against the Bills this week. If he can, Chase Edmonds loses much of his fantasy appeal.
Kenyan Drake missed his first game of the season in Week 9 because of an ankle injury and is still limited ahead of the Arizona Cardinals’ Week 10 matchup against the Buffalo Bills. Drake is considered day-to-day at this point, according to AZCardinals.com’s Kyle Odegard.
Kliff Kingsbury said Drake was day-to-day last week ahead of Week 9 but the didn’t practice at all before being ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins. Drake could forfeit a significant amount of work to Chase Edmonds for a second straight week if he’s not in shape to play.
Drake was one of the most utilized backs in the NFL ahead of Week 9 but Edmonds got more touches than the usual starter ever has on Sunday. Edmonds totaled 28 touches ands 25 were rushing attempts. He ran for 70 yards and caught three passes for 18 additional yards. He was in for 96 percent of the Cardinals’ snaps. Arizona doesn’t seem keen on playing D.J. Foster or Eno Benjamin much, so Drake’s return will be the only thing that stops Edmonds from getting an insane amount of exposure.
Drake is averaging 18 touches per game but only played more than 70 percent of Arizona’s snaps in Week 1.
