Best value lineup strategy for Jets vs. Patriots MNF Showdown

We go over some ideal value picks for Monday’s Saints-Chargers matchup to close out Week 9.

Previewing Patriots vs. Jets

Tonight’s Monday Night Football matchup will be between the New England Patriots and New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. The bulk of the fantasy points are likely going to go to Cam Newton, Jamison Crowder, Damien Harris, Jakobi Meyers and the Patriots defense. The question is, who are those one or two players further down the radar that will become critical in this game and help you roster more studs in the DraftKings Showdown?

James White, RB, Patriots — $6,400

I’m not sure why they aren’t using him more this season, but they should and he does have two games with seven and eight receptions. White, and his ability to catch passes, is a good play on DraftKings, as he doesn’t need to score or gain a whole lot of yards to have some value in a Showdown.

La’Mical Perine, Jets, RB — $5,800
Frank Gore, Jets, RB — $2,800

The Patriots run defense is their biggest weakness and with old man Flacco at the helm, the Jets would love to get the run game working. The Jets don’t have much of a running game and what they do have is split up between Gore and Perine. That’s not going to get you too excited about these two, but this game isn’t likely to have a whole lot of fantasy points, so we aren’t looking for Dalvin Cook numbers here. Perine gets more targets, so has more upside, but Gore still gets his 10 carries a game and his much cheaper.

Sony Michel, Patriots, RB — $2,200

Michel is a long-shot to even play, but if he does, who knows what Bill Belichick will do with Damien Harris not 100 percent. At his price, if Michel is activated, we can’t ignore him completely and he could be your secret weapon to glory! Or not.

Denzel Mims, Jets, WR — $5,000

With Joe Flacco in this week. I don’t love the Jets passing game, but Mims is a player who can make something out of nothing. He also gets some help with Stephon Gilmore out for the Patriots. Jamison Crowder and Breshad Perriman should return to this game, likely spreading the targets out even more, so we’re hoping for Mims to assert himself on just a few targets.
