How to handle Ezekiel Elliott injury in Week 9 fantasy football

Ezekiel Elliott is on the Cowboys final injury report for Week 9. We break down what it means for fantasy football roster decisions.

Game status: Elliott is ACTIVE for Week 9.

2:30 p.m. update: Elliott will be playing, according to numerous reports, but Todd Archer is hearing Tony Pollard will get work as well. Pollard would normally get work, but expect more than normal.

Game day update: The Cowboys promoted a running back this weekend, but Elliott “has a good chance to play” in Week 9, per Ian Rapoport. Pre-game warmups will hopefully confirm that.

Uh oh, it looks like Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is going to be a game-time decision this week when his team takes on the Pittsburgh Steelers. Elliott hurt his hamstring last week late in the game against the Eagles. He is listed as questionable on this week’s injury report, but the Cowboys promoted a running back from the practice squad. That does not bode well for Zeke.

Fantasy impact: Ezekiel Elliott (hamstring)

Elliott was able to practice every day this week in a limited role. However, that does not leave fantasy owners with much hope either way about his availability. Even if he does play, his production could be limited, not just because of his injury, but because the Cowboys offense has been seriously hamstrung (pun intended) since quarterback Dak Prescott suffered a season-ending injury. Elliott has not had more than 50 rushing yards in a game since Week 5.

If he can’t play this week, Tony Pollard is the next man up, but it’s unlikely he’d be able to produce better stats than Elliott.
