In NFL DFS, picking the right quarterback regardless of price can put you in the driver’s seat to win your respective contest. Sometimes, you might have to spend $8,100 for Patrick Mahomes, depending on the matchup, or you may take a flier on Drew Lock. Here are some top quarterback plays over and under $6,000 on DraftKings in Week 9.
Quarterbacks over $6,000
DeShaun Watson, Texans — $7,100
Watson has topped 23 DraftKings points in four straight games and one of those came against this same Jaguars team . He threw for 359 yards, three touchdowns, two interceptions and rushed for 25 yards for 29.86 DK points in that matchup. The Jags rank 32 in pass defense DVOA and third-worst in DK points allowed to quarterbacks.
Justin Herbert, Chargers — $6,800
Herbert has been on fire this season, as he hasn’t dipped below 19.7 DK points in every start while topping 23 DK points in his last four. He’s put those points up against some decent defenses in the Saints, Broncos and Buccaneers, all on the road. His last home game came against a bad Jaguars defense and he scored 41.48 DK points. Now he gets another home game, this time against a poor Raiders pass defense.
Quarterbacks at or under $6,000
Drew Lock, Broncos — $5,200
Lock has been mostly worthless this season, as he’s been hurt and played poorly when healthy. But he did have his best game last week, as he tossed three touchdowns and his other matchups have been against tough defenses for the most part. This week he should get Tim Patrick back and gets to face a poor pass defense in the dome against the Falcons. He’s no lock of course, well, not in fantasy at least, but he has great upside this week.
Derek Carr, Raiders — $5,700
Carr had no chance in that wind last week in Cleveland, but he’ll be back home this week against a Chargers defense that hasn’t lived up to expectations. Carr has also been better than expected, as the Raiders offense has opened up some this season. Before their wind game, Carr had topped 20 DK points for three straight and has even ran a bit more than usual. The Chargers have given up the fourth-most DK points to opposing quarterbacks.
