Game day update: ESPN projects Alvin Kamara to have 21.9 points and Latavius Murray to have 7.7 points. The Bucs rank 10th best in fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs.
New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara exists in that rarified air of being one of the handful of players who is not just a must-start guy from week to week, he’s one of those players you can count on to produce, even on his bad days. Though this week’s matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is a tough one, he should once again be in lineups.
Fantasy Football analysis: Saints RBs Alvin Kamara, Latavius Murray
Kamara is actually in the midst of a three-game scoreless streak. However, his yardage totals have kept him viable for fantasy. Last week against the 67 rushing yards and 96 receiving yards, catching nine passes on a eye-popping 13 targets. He scored twice back in a Week 1 against the Bucs, rolling up 51 receiving yards and a touchdown. He wasn’t as effective on the ground in that one, with just 16 yards on 12 carries, but he scored a rushing touchdown too.
Kamara had been listed with a foot injury, but he was a full participant at Thursday’s practice, and shouldn’t be at all limited for this game.
With Kamara healthy, Murray’s workload has been limited to spelling him at times. He’s had at least eight carries in his last four games, but hasn’t topped 50 yards since Week 4, when he also scored twice against the Lions. He’s just not doing enough with the touches he does get to merit fantasy consideration.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Start Alvin Kamara. Sit Latavius Murray.
