Game day update: Jacobs is expected to take the field on Sunday despite dealing with some illness and a knee injury, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport. There’s a chance Jalen Richard will get more opportunities than usual if Jacobs is limited but the starter should get the bulk of the touches out of the backfield.
The Raiders squeaked out a 16-6 win over the Browns in Week 8. In a game with minimal offensive fantasy goodness, Josh Jacobs was the sole positive sight, even against one of the league’s stingier defenses. In Week 9, he’ll get a much easier matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, but will he take advantage of the opportunity?
Fantasy Football analysis: Raiders RB Josh Jacobs
After starting the season against a weak rushing defense in the Panthers, Jacobs has had six of the most difficult matchups on a weekly basis. Still, he has racked up the eighth-most rushing yards per game with 74.7, mostly due to his 128-yard performance last week. He’ll have an amazing opportunity to add his second 100-plus-yard outing against a Chargers defense that is letting opposing rushers log almost six yards per carry. If you held onto Jacobs through those unfavorable matchups, or if you scooped him up in a trade, you’ll likely be enjoying the benefits starting this week.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Start Jacobs.
