The bookmakers have a middleweight bout on the main card of UFC Vegas 13 as a dead-even contest, as Ian Heinisch will take on Brendan Allen Saturday in Las Vegas live on ESPN+.
The 32-year-old Heinisch is walking into the octagon with a record of 14-3. This will be Heinisch’s second fight in 2020. His first fight took place at UFC 250 in June, where he defeated Gerald Meerschaert in Round 1 by TKO (punches) at 1:14.
Before that win, Heinisch lost two consecutive fights last year by unanimous decision at UFC 245 and UFC 241. The veteran fighter enters Saturday’s match as the better striker than his opponent.
Heinisch lands 3.64 strikes per minute with a 52 percent striking accuracy. However, he doesn’t absorb a ton of strikes per minute at 2.85, while his defense is at 59 percent. “The Hurricane” can also get down on the mat and grapple if he needs to. Heinisch has a 1.16 takedown average per 15 minutes, but his accuracy is subpar at 19 percent.
The 24-year-old Allen is looking for his third consecutive victory in 2020. Allen has an impressive overall professional record at 15-3, with most of his wins coming via submission. He is surprisingly a perfect 3-0 in the UFC over the last two years.
At UFC on ESPN 12 in June, Brendan “All In” Allen defeated Kyle Daukaus by unanimous decision. Allen is a tactical striker, recording 2.67 strikes landed per minute with an accuracy of 60 percent. He also doesn’t absorb as many hits as Heinisch, accumulating only 2.55 per minute.
However, Heinisch has Allen beat when it comes to being the better striking defender. Allen’s defense is only at 35 percent, but if he can take down the 32-year old, then there might be a path to victory. “All In” has a 1.42 takedown average per 15 minutes with an accuracy of 37 percent and a submission average of 2.4 per 15 minutes.
