The San Francisco 49ers placed wide receiver Kendrick Bourne on the Covid-19 injured reserve list on Wednesday, and now they’ve added several of his close contacts. Left tackle Trent Williams and fellow wide receivers Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk have all been classified as high risk close contacts and will have to miss at least five days.

Samuel was already ruled out for Week 9 vs. the Packers due to a hamstring injury. Aiyuk was going to be the top target for Nick Mullens while Williams was going to protect Mullens’ blind side. Now, they’re both out and the 49ers face a serious challenge.

The 49ers will be able to promote some players to fill in the back end of the roster, with some practice squad promotions coming soon. They’ll likely start Justin Skule at left tackle. Trent Taylor and Richie James are their only two receivers on the 53-man roster and James is questionable with an ankle injury. They’ll promote one or more of wide receivers River Cracraft, Kevin White, and Chris Finke.
