Tight end PPR rankings for Week 9 fantasy football

We take you through some of the best PPR tight ends going in Week 9 for fantasy football, including a few viable streamers.

Final injury report

Out: N/A
Doubtful: N/A
Questionable: Mo Alie-Cox (knee), Cole Kmet (groin), Nick Vannett (foot), Vance McDonald (illness), Dawson Knox (calf)

Thursday injury report

Greg Olsen, Dawson Knox, Tyler Eifert and Jimmy Graham both returned to practice while Logan Thomas and T.J. Hockenson both got a full practice in after being limited on Wednesday. Cole Kmet had a setback in week with a groin injury, which is always a bad sign.

Wednesday injury report

George Kittle is out for around eight weeks with a foot injury. Jordan Reed is trying to return this week from a knee injury. If he can’t Ross Dwelley would be the main tight end.

Jordan Akins returns to a full practice. He should also return to a timeshare at tight end with Darren Fells when they take on the Jaguars.

Jimmy Graham usually gets veteran days off, but this week he is listed with a knee and a hamstring injury. He may have a tougher time returning this week. If he can’t, Cole Kmet would get the start.

Greg Olsen missed practice with a foot injury, which sounds bad due to Olsen’t history of foot trouble. If he can’t go, Will Dissly would likely see the lead in a committee at tight end.

DNP: Jimmy Graham (knee, hamstring), Tyler Eifert (not injury related, neck), Greg Olsen (foot)
Limited: Mo Alie-Cox (knee), Nick Vannett (foot), T.J. Hockenson (toe), Logan Thomas (ankle)
Full: Jordan Akins (ankle, concussion), Adam Shaheen (shoulder)

Travis Kelce was the only tight end who topped 100 yards last week and was far ahead of the rest of the tight ends. George Kittle fracturing his foot didn’t help. The pool of strong and consistent tight ends is down to one.

Taysom Hill landed as the No. 4 fantasy tight end and it’s probably time to consider him as an option.

Ten targets for T.J. Hockenson is a good sign for his upside with Kenny Golladay out, but the Lions offense has been hit and miss.

Injury news

George Kittle is out around eight weeks with a fractured foot. Ross Dwelley should get the start, but Jordan Reed is also getting close to returning.

Week 9 byes: Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Rams, Philadelphia Eagles

No Drew Sample, Austin Hooper, Tyler Higbee, Gerald Everett or Dallas Goedert this week.

Streaming options

Eric Ebron, Steelers

The Steelers get a great matchup with the Cowboys and Ebron should be a useful fantasy play. Last week he scored a critical touchdown and appears to be a key part of the offense now.

Irv Smith, Lions

Smith continues to see an uptick in routes run and targets. Last week was a tough wind game, but he saw his biggest snap percentage and appears to truly be the No. 1 tight end at this point. A breakout game is coming.
