Michigan’s nightmare continues, team pauses all activities due to Covid-19 per report

The Apocalypse in Ann Arbor continues, as the 2-4 Michigan Wolverines have paused all football activities in the wake of a Covid-19 outbreak per a report from The Michigan Insider.

The Michigan Insider has learned that the Michigan Football program is pausing team activities effective today based on presumptive positive tests. The team was alerted to the shutdown earlier this morning. Whether this is a momentary stoppage or something lengthier will depend upon “confirmatory PCR test results. All meetings planned for the day will commence virtually in order to continue the preparation for Saturday’s matchup with Maryland if it winds up not being canceled.

Block M lost to previously winless Penn State at home 27-17 on Saturday, and have just two scheduled games remaining against Maryland and Ohio State. The Wolverines (2-4) are a 5.5 point favorite as of now at DraftKings Sportsbook, but any cancelation would ensure their first losing season since 2014. After that year Brady Hoke was fired, and Jim Harbaugh was installed as head coach.

Something to note is that in what would be a massive hit to their eternal rival, if the Ohio State game was canceled the Buckeyes would be ineligible for the Big Ten Championship Game. Teams are required by league rule to play a minimum of six contests in 2020 to get to represent their division in Indianapolis. If this is a long-term issue, that game might not take place as well.
