The Detroit Lions have been dealing with health issues at running back and D’Andre Swift is still recovering from a concussion he suffered against the Washington Football Team earlier this year. Kerryon Johnson has gotten most of the snaps since Swift has been injured but Adrian Peterson has been able to thrive as a goal-line option with significant fantasy football option. Peterson might not be a work horse but is widely available in fantasy football leagues and could be a quality waiver wire pickup ahead of Week 13.
Peterson hasn’t played more than 30 percent of Detroit’s offensive snaps in a game since Week 7 but totaled 15 carries for 55 rushing yards and two scores in a Week 12 matchup against the Houston Texans on Thanksgiving Day. It’s clear that the Lions prefer him to Johnson in scoring situations. He leads Detroit in rushing attempts, rushing yards, and rushing touchdowns but is only rostered in XX percent of ESPN leagues. He has a few ideal matchups on the horizon and could continue to flourish if Swift doesn’t return by Week 13.
