The Miami Dolphins had their five-game winning streak snapped by the Denver Broncos in Week 11 but will look to get back on track in Week 12 against the winless New York Jets. Tua Tagovailoa struggled in his last outing and lost his first-ever game as a pro. The rookie is battling a thumb injury and could be replaced by Ryan Fitzpatrick under center. Miami could decide on a starter just before kickoff in this one so it’s hard to determine what quarterback will have more fantasy value.
Fantasy Football analysis: Dolphins QBs Tua Tagovailoa, Ryan Fitzpatrick
Tagovailoa has had a few abysmal games in his first NFL season. He’s failed to eclipse 100 passing yards in two starts this year but is 3-1 with six touchdown passes and zero interceptions. He’s only averaging 150.5 passing yards per game in starts and his touchdown numbers leave a lot to be desired. The Jets are giving up 30.2 points per game and were shut out 24-0 the last time they faced the Dolphins though. Tagovailoa could get a boost in stats if he’s healthy. However, Tua has been listed as doubtful for Sunday’s contest.
Fitzpatrick has shown much more fantasy upside than Tagovailoa this season. While he only threw for 191 yards the last time he faced New York, he’s thrown for over 300 yards three times and has four multi-touchdown games under his belt in 2020. If he’s under center for the Dolphins, the receiving assets in Miami could be in for a big day.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Both quarterbacks are worth starting against the Jets in season-long fantasy and DFS but Fitzpatrick appears to have the higher ceiling.
