Some quarterbacks are coming into Week 12 with ideal matchups while others seem likely to underperform. We’ve identified two signal-callers who are ideal starters in fantasy football and two who could bust ahead of the action. Let’s go over some of the top options and fades.
Quarterback Starts
Derek Carr, Las Vegas Raiders vs. Atlanta Falcons
Carr snapped his cold streak against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11 and will now face at Atlanta Falcons defense that was dominated by Taysom Hill on Sunday. The Raiders are primed to bounce back from their latest loss against one of the worst defenses in the NFL. This is a great opportunity for Carr to put together one of his best performances of the year by utilizing his now-healthy receiving corps against a poor secondary.
Teddy Bridgewater, Carolina Panthers vs. Minnesota Vikings
Bridgewater is set to return after one week on the shelf. D.J. Moore, Robby Anderson, and Curtis Samuel all produced against the Detroit Lions with P.J. Walker under center. Bridgewater’s touchdown pass numbers aren’t great but Minnesota has given up the second-most passing touchdowns in the NFL (22). This is a good chance for Bridgewater to pad his stats against a defense that gave up three passing touchdowns in Andy Dalton in Week 11.
Quarterback Sits
Taysom Hill, New Orleans Saints vs. Denver Broncos
Hill burst onto the scene with a top-notch fantasy line in Week 11 but I wouldn’t bank on him lighting up the Broncos like he did the Atlanta Falcons in his first NFL start. Denver is more respectable than Atlanta against the run and the pass and has only given up two rushing scores to quarterbacks this year. Hill will likely have to prove his arm in this matchup.
Tom Brady, Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Brady underperformed against one of the best pass defenses in the NFL on Monday and now the Buccaneers will host reigning champs. Kansas City gave up 31 points to the Raiders in Week 11 but have held opponents just under 22 points per game this season. The Chiefs have given up the fourth-fewest passing touchdowns (14) in the NFL and have been more susceptible to strong ground attacks on defense. I wouldn’t bank on Brady in this matchup, as he’s busted in two of his last three games and is set to face another solid secondary.
