Detroit Lions running back Adrian Peterson entered Thanksgiving against the Houston Texans with two rushing touchdowns on the season. Midway through the second quarter of the game, he’s doubled that total. Peterson has two touchdowns in helping the Lions take a 14-13 lead.
Peterson might be finding the end zone, but that’s about it for him. He has six carries for eight yards on the day. It’s important to find the end zone, but he’s benefited from some splash plays on both sides of the ball. He scored his first touchdown after the Lions ran a reverse flea-flicker that saw Matthew Stafford find T.J. Hockenson for a 51-yard gain. A pass interference penalty set the Lions up at the 2 and Peterson punched it in. AP’s second score came after a Texans fumble set the Lions up inside the red zone.
All props to Peterson for punching it in, but his line personifies what has been an ugly game. It feels like a late career Jerome Bettis performance!
