Both Kenny Golladay and Danny Amendola are out with hip injuries this week, leaving the Lions receiver corps pretty depleted. Cue the Marvin show, as Marvin Jones and Marvin Hall will assume the top pass catcher duties this time around. Jamal Agnew figures to be peppered in here and there as well as he fills in for his injured teammates. Do any of these players belong in your lineups? We break down the fantasy analysis below.
Fantasy Football analysis: Lions WRs Marvin Jones, Marvin Hall, Jamal Agnew
Marvin Jones figured to be the next man up when Golladay went down, but he has been hit or miss so far this season. Currently averaging 11.3 points per game, Jones figures to outperform his season average this week given his increased opportunity for targets in Golladay’s absence, and his plus matchup with a Houston defense that has allowed the ninth most fantasy points to opposing wideouts. Though he hasn’t been the picture of consistency, this week’s circumstances bump Jones into WR3/ flex territory. Go ahead and add him to your starting lineups.
Marvin Hall has stepped up in Golladay’s absence and carved out a decent role for himself in recent weeks. He saw 12 combined targets in Weeks 8 and 9, but this was halved into 6 targets in Week 10 and 11. He did manage to find the endzone once in that stretch, showing his touchdown dependent upside, but his role is not large enough to trust him as a fantasy starter in standard leagues. He can serve as a desperation flier in deeper leagues, but for the most part should remain on the bench.
Jamal Agnew is not a name that often attracts much fantasy attention, but the Lions injury woes have thrust him into a minor role in the Detroit offense. He received six targets in Week 11 and turned them into three receptions for 10 yards. Even though he’s worthy of a mention in an article here and there, he still hasn’t reach a level where he is worthy of a spot in your starting lineup and he should be left on the bench in all standard leagues.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Start Marvin Jones as a WR3
Sit Marvin Hall
Sit Jamal Agnew
