The College Football Playoff will start rankings teams tonight as all the teams in contention will find out what the selection committee thinks of them so far. This will happen for the next four weeks, with the announcement of the final four and all teams in the New Year’s Six coming December 20th.
We likely know the top four teams in Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Clemson, but it’s possible the committee could find a surprise in there somewhere. With the 2020 season being one of the most unusual, and the schedule will be a factor. Teams from the Big Ten and Pac-12 often having played significantly less games, so how will the committee factor in those with far fewer data points?
