What to do with Salvon Ahmed, Matt Breida, Patrick Laird in Week 11 fantasy football

We go over the fantasy football outlooks of Salvon Ahmed, Matt Breida, and Patrick Laird ahead of the Dolphins Week 11 matchup against the Broncos.

Game day update: The Broncos will be without defensive lineman DeShawn Williams, which will impact the front facing the Dolphins running backs. The question is which back, if any, gets the lead work. In PPR leagues, ESPN projects Breida with 10.0 points, Salvon Ahmed with 9.9, and Patrick Laird with 2.5. Ahmed was the lead back last week, but Breida’s return throws a wrench in things for those rostering Ahmed.

I’m willing to bet that Salvon Ahmed was not on your radar last week. Of course he wasn’t. The fantasy football industrial complex (hi!) was telling everyone that Jordan Howard would probably be the main guy in Miami’s backfield last week. Instead, Howard didn’t suit up and was on the street days later. Meanwhile, Ahmed came out of nowhere to be the waiver wire prize this week. He’s got another chance to wow us this week against the Broncos too.

Fantasy Football analysis: Dolphins RBs Salvon Ahmed, Matt Breida, Patrick Laird

Ahmed led the way last week for the Dolphins, carrying the ball 21 times for 85 yards and a touchdown against the Chargers. Laird played second fiddle, getting just two carries for 19 yards.

The equation changes a little this week. Breida is expected to return to action, but he should be slotting back into the No. 2 role. Laird will be the odd man out. Things get more confusing next week with the possibility of Myles Gaskin returning from his stint on the injured reserve list. But for now, Ahmed has the chance to shine against a Broncos team that’s been gouged by running backs for six touchdowns and a heaping helping of yards in their last three games.
