Los Angeles Lakers PG Avery Bradley has decided he does not want to remain with the team. He has agreed to terms with the Miami Heat on a two-year deal worth $11.6 million, per Shams Charania.
Prior to opting out of the NBA restart in the bubble, Bradley had played 49 games, including 44 starts for the Lakers in 2019-20. He averaged 8.6 points in 24.2 minutes per game, but was a key cog on defense for L.A. That was surely missed during the championship run, though was detrimental to the Lakers’ success. However, Bradley will look to become a key cog within the Heat’s zone defensive scheme this season.
The Heat needed Bradley as a reinforcement because Andre Iguodala is currently an unrestricted free agent. Without Iguodala, the Heat’s perimeter takes a massive hit as their next best defender is Jimmy Butler. Bradley will be competing for minutes with Kendrick Nunn, who is backing up starting point guard Goran Dragic.
