Tale of the Tape for Brandon Moreno vs. Brandon Royval

In a flyweight battle on the preliminary card of UFC 255, Brandon Moreno will fight Brandon Royval Saturday in Las Vegas and available on ESPN+.

The 26-year-old Moreno is walking into the octagon with a professional fighting record of 17-5-1 and a two-match winning streak. The last time “The Assassin Baby” was in the octagon, he defeated Jussier Formiga by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 170 in March.

Moreno lands 3.00 strikes per minute with a 34 percent accuracy. He also absorbs 2.94 strikes per minute, while his defense is at 63 percent. When it comes to grappling, the Mexican mixed martial artist has a 1.75 takedown average per 15 minutes and 40 percent takedown accuracy.

As for Royval, he is coming into the UFC APEX with a professional record of 12-4. The 28-year-old from Colorado has won five-straight professional, including his first two matches in UFC this year. Royval made his debut in May at UFC on ESPN 9, where he defeated Tim Elliott in Round 2 using an arm-triangle choke.

Before “Raw Dawg” Royval made the jump to UFC, he competed at LFA, SCL, Combate Americas, WSOF, and Kick Down MMA. The 5-foot-9 fighter is a better striker than Moreno, landing 3.9 strikes per minute with a 52 percent accuracy. He also takes fewer absorbed strikes at 2.77, but it is not good at defending against strikes at 44 percent.

As for grappling, Royval will look for a submission win with his 3.2 average per 15 minutes, and a takedown average of 1.06 per 15 minutes with 100 percent accuracy.
