In a women’s flyweight bout on the main card of UFC 255, Katlyn Chookagian will take on Cynthia Calvillo Saturday in Las Vegas and available on ESPN+.
The 31-year-old Chookagin is heading into this weekend’s match with a professional fighting record of 14-4. This is her fourth UFC fight in 2020, as “Blonde Fighter” last competed at UFC Fight Night 180, losing to Jessica Andrade in Round 1 by knockout.
Chookagin’s last win happened in May at UFC on ESPN 9, defeating Antonina Shevchenko by unanimous decision. She lands 4.18 strikes per minute but has a striking accuracy of 35 percent. The New Jersey native also absorbs 4.25 strikes per minute and defends at 62 percent.
Calvillo is coming into the UFC APEX with a professional fighting record of 9-1-1. The 33-year-old fighter will be competing in her second match this year. At UFC on ESPN 10 in June, she won by unanimous decision over Jessica Eye. Calvillo’s only loss in her career happened three years ago at UFC 219 against Carla Esparza.
The San Jose native is the better striker and more complete fighter, recording 4.21 strikes landed per minute with a 44 percent striking accuracy. But unlike Chookagian, she absorbs a lot fewer strikes at 3.37 per minute and defends them at a 66 percent clip. Calvillo can also grapple with a 1.97 takedown average per 15 minutes and 46 percent takedown accuracy.
