On Friday night the 1-2 Air Force Falcons welcome the winless New Mexico Lobos to Colorado as both teams look to get their first Mountain West win of 2020.
Air Force has had a heck of a time even finding players to field a team this season. Before the year started, a lot of the team opted out due to COVID-19 reasons. When the year started the Falcons were rolling out a bunch of guys who never had much playing time at the FBS level. Still, the team has performed admirably and have lost to two very good teams in San Jose State and Boise State.
Air Force is a run-first team like all of the military academies are. While that looks to be favorable to New Mexico, as they only give up about 81 yards on the ground each game, this is a different type of rushing attack. The Falcons run the triple option, which is extremely tough to prepare for, especially on a short week. The Lobos typically get beat through the air, having given up over 400 yards passing per game. But this opponent won’t do that, AF’s starting quarterback Haaziq Daniels only has 133 passing yards all season.
New Mexico’s offense has performed OK, but the Air Force defense is pretty stingy, only giving up about 330 yards each game.

The Best Bet
Neither of these teams are going to break the scoreboard with a ton of points. Air Force is going to want to control the ball, and the clock, limiting the other team’s possessions. This seems like an easy pick.
Pick: Under 55.5
