Packers RB Aaron Jones remains uncertain for Week 9 with a calf injury.

5 p.m. update: Jones is expected to be active for TNF barring any pregame setbacks, per Adam Schefter. While NFL Network said Jones could end up with a limited workload, Schefter simply reported, “[t]he Packers plan to be ‘careful’” with Jones.

Game day update: The Packers are “hopeful” Aaron Jones will play, but he’ll need to go through warmups first and it could end up a limited role, per NFL Network. That would mean Tyler Ervin ends up with more work.

Wednesday update: Aaron Jones is considered a game-time decision by offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, per The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman.

Tuesday PM update: Jones got in a second straight day of limited work, per Rob Demovsky. He’s trending in the right direction, but his status remains unclear.

The Green Bay Packers had their first practice of Week 9, and while the team had a walkthrough due to the quick turnaround for Thursday Night Football, the estimated report is informative. Running back Aaron Jones was listed as limited due to his calf injury, per Tom Silverstein.

Jones has missed two straight games due to the injury, and the short week leaves him uncertain for Week 9. The Packers face a difficult task this week. Running back A.J. Dillon tested positive for Covid-19 and was placed on injured reserve. He will miss a minimum of ten days, which means he will not play on Thursday. That leaves Jamaal Williams and Tyler Ervin as the only two healthy running backs.

Williams has done a good job carrying the bulk of the workload, so there is not necessarily an urgency to get Jones back before he’s fully ready. The Packers will have their most significant practice on Tuesday and then likely a walkthrough on Wednesday before traveling to the Bay Area for their game with the San Francisco 49ers.
