Reich: Jonathan Taylor dealing with ‘a little bit of an ankle injury’ heading into Week 9

Colts RB Jonathan Taylor had a slow game in Week 8 and an ankle injury might be the culprit.

The Indianapolis Colts thumped the Detroit Lions in Week 8, but running back Jonathan Taylor was unable to take advantage. He had 22 yards on 11 carries and added two receptions for nine yards against a normally porous Lions defense.

The reason for his struggles might be injury-related. On Monday, head coach Frank Reich said Taylor is dealing with “a little bit of an ankle injury,” per Zak Keefer. Reich said it didn’t come up until after the win, but it would not be surprising if that is what slowed Taylor on Sunday.

Jordan Wilkins led the team on the ground, rushing 20 times for 89 yards and a touchdown, and added a 24-yard reception. Nyheim Hines had five carries for eight yards, but led the team with 54 yards and two touchdowns on three receptions. Wilkins will be a popular waiver wire option in all formats heading into Week 9 when the Colts face the Baltimore Ravens. Hines will be a popular waiver pick-up in PPR leagues.
