The New England Patriots were spread thin at wide receiver against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday without Julian Edelman (knee) and N’Keal Harry (concussion). It was clear that other pass catchers would have to step up with key personnel injured ahead of the matchup and Jakobi Meyers answered the call.
Meyers entered Sunday with seven targets on the season. He caught six of his 10 targets against the Bills for 58 yards. He unexpectedly outperformed Damiere Byrd, who had four times as many targets as Meyers after Week 7. Meyers is only rostered in XX percent of fantasy leagues and could continue to be a key target for Cam Newton with Edelman on injured reserve.
Meyers has led the Patriots in receptions and receiving yards for two straight weeks. While New England will likely focus on pounding the ground while the passing game is limited but Meyers is emerging as a reliable fill-in.
