Why I like the Buccaneers against the spread on MNF vs. the Giants

The Buccaneers are heavily favored for Monday’s matchup against the Giants and have a good shot at covering the spread on the road.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will look to extend their winning streak to three games against the New York Giants to wrap up Week 8 with a Monday Night Football matchup. The Buccaneers are big-time favorites ahead of the contest at MetLife Stadium and have a good chance to win by a large margin.

Tampa Bay (-625) has blown out the Green Bay Packers and Las Vegas Raiders in its last two games. The Buccaneers won by an average of 26.5 points and the Giants haven’t played nearly as well as either of those squads this season. The Buccaneers should win this road game easily because of their abundance of weapons on offense and elite run defense. I like them to cover the spread with room to spare.

ATS Pick: Buccaneers -12.5

The Buccaneers are 12.5-point favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook. They rank third in the NFL with 31.7 points per game and are up against a Giants team that struggles to put points on the board. New York ranks second to last in scoring and averages 17.4 points per game and are only averaging 15 points per game at home. It’s clear that New York struggles to move the chains and Tampa Bay’s defensive line could make things very tough for the home team.

Tampa Bay is giving up a league-low 66 rushing yards per game and Daniel Jones leads the Giants in rushing yards. New York’s trio of running backs — Devonta Freeman, Wayne Gallman Jr., and Dion Lewis — is averaging just over 3.5 yards per carry this season and has totaled 336 rushing yards on 95 carries. They’ve also scored just three touchdowns collectively. New York’s lack of reliable playmakers has led to 14 turnovers. Oh, and the Giants will be without Freeman. The Buccaneers are among the league leaders in takeaways with 12 and should get some freebies to help them run up the score.
