Report: Teddy Bridgewater could play in Week 11, but seems like a longshot

Panthers QB Teddy Bridgewater injured his knee in Week 10 and his status is uncertain for Week 11.

Friday update: The Panthers are not ruling out Bridgewater for Week 11, with Ian Rapoport tweeting that after doing nothing Wednesday and Thursday, “he’s moving around better and should do more in practice today. So, still a shot.” He is listed as questionable, per Tom Pelissero, but he still seems like a longshot for Sunday.

Thursday PM update: NFL Network is reporting Bridgewater appears “unlikely” to start on Sunday. A final decision has not been announced but the big question becomes, will it be P.J. Walker or Will Grier?

Thursday early PM update: Bridgewater was once again in the red jersey indicating he will be limited. He was listed as limited after Wednesday’s practice. He “is still walking with a bit of a limp,” per David Newton.

Wednesday AM update: Bridgewater is expected to practice on Wednesday, according to Ian Rapoport. It’s not yet clear if he will be limited or full.

The Carolina Panthers may have avoided a significant blow in Week 10. Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater left Sunday’s loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a knee injury, but he is day-to-day with an MCL sprain, per Ian Rapoport.

There was some optimism about his status following the game, but a knee sprain can be a tricky one. And “day-to-day” can be a nebulous term. The Panthers return to practice on Wednesday, at which point we will start to get a handle on his status. It will probably take a couple days as it would not be surprising to see him as a DNP to start the practice week.

Bridgewater injured his knee when he was sacked in the fourth quarter and the team’s second to last drive. Former XFL legend P.J. Walker came on in his place and finished the game 2 of 4 for 12 yards. Will Grier is the team’s third quarterback.
