Forget that last game. Wipe it out of your memory. Burn the tape and bury it. A nation watched Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady play possibly his worst NFL game on Sunday night versus New Orleans. Nothing worked. Everything was bad. But there is some good news: His performance this Sunday against the Carolina Panthers can’t possibly be worse.
Fantasy Football analysis: Bucs QB Tom Brady
Even before the Week 9 clunker, Brady wasn’t a fantasy stud; he had failed to reach 20 fantasy points in three of his previous four games. The Panthers are the 10th-best defense against QBs this season, even after giving up four scores to Patrick Mahomes last week. That matched the number of passing touchdowns Carolina gave from Weeks 5-8. Plus, they have already proven that they can keep Brady quiet as he ended their Week 2 battle with just 10.7 DraftKings points. The Bucs won that game, 31-17, as their running game took over. But Brady was also without Chris Godwin that week. Plus, Rob Gronkowski was still knocking off the rust, and Antonio Brown was without a job. Brady will have a full complement of targets in this rematch.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Even though Carolina’s pass defense is above-average, Brady probably feels like he has something to prove and will have his receiving corps at just about full strength in order to prove it. That’s a narrative-heavy argument, but he’s fine as a low-end QB1 in season-long leagues. His DraftKings price fell $900 from last week, down to $6,300, making him the 11th-costliest QB for Week 10.
