Washington Football Team quarterback Alex Smith showed some promise when he replaced Kyle Allen in a Week 9 matchup against the New York Giants but also struggled at times while shaking off the rust. He’s set to start in Week 10 against the Detroit Lions and could be worth considering in fantasy football.
Fantasy Football analysis: Washington QB Alex Smith
Smith completed 75 percent of his passes his last time out and threw for 325 yards and a score in three quarters and some change. However, he also threw three picks. Washington’s reluctance to rely on the run game means Smith could throw the ball a ton in Week 10. His high ceiling is appealing and he could hurl 40 or more passes against a Lions secondary that’s comparable to the Giants’. He has an elite receiver in Terry McLaurin two running backs who are threats as pass catchers out of the backfield. Another week of practice and reps with starters could work wonders for Smith in his first start of the year.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Smith is probably too risky to start in season-long leagues, but could be a quality low-rostered DFS option if he booms.
