No, you cannot bet on when Jim Harbaugh will be fired at legal American sportsbooks

The expansion of sports betting across America after the repeal of Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act by the Supreme Court in May of 2018 has come swiftly, as there are now 20 states and Washington D.C. where you can legally wager on the outcome of sporting events. And six more jurisdictions are on the way soon!

However: None of those states will allow you to make a legal bet on when Jim Harbaugh will be fired by Michigan.

These types of “proposition wagers” aren’t licensed in any jurisdiction yet, as bets have to involve something that occurs on the field. So while you can bet the over/under on the win total of Michigan of 1.5 and put your bankroll on the under, there is no place you can make a legally licensed, bonded, and secured bet on when Harbaugh will have to turn in his swipe card and parking hangtag.

Sadly, included with this is are specific props such as “will Harbaugh be fired on the field after this Wisconsin game” or “will Michigan’s head coach be terminated in the locker room at halftime while down 28-0 to Wisconsin because the team that has clearly quit on him” or “on Monday because no one is available in HR until 9am on a weekday.”

The Michigan Wolverines are 1-2, and by the time you read this they will likely be 1-3. They have been horrendous on both sides of the ball, and don’t seem to care very much if they win a football game. And when you are the “winningest program in college football history” with 963 varsity victories, that is often an issue with fans, boosters, alumni, and university presidents trying to raise money.

So if you think being down four touchdowns after just 30 minutes against Wisconsin, while being outgained 227-94 with two turnovers is enough to get the gate at halftime, that is a valid sports opinion to have. However you cannot make this wager and profit from it in the United States legally.
