Game status: Matt Breida and Jordan Howard are BOTH inactive in Week 10. DeAndre Washington, Salvon Ahmed, and Patrick Laird are the beneficiaries.
Game day update: Matt Breida is NOT expected to play in Week 10, per Ian Rapoport, which leaves the Dolphins depth chart with Jordan Howard, Patrick Laird, and Salvon Ahmed. Howard and Ahmed will likely split the carries, while Laird will get passing game work. In PPR leagues, ESPN projects Laird with 6.2 points, Howard, with 4.9 points, and Ahmed with 4.2 points. RB/WR Lynn Bowden Jr. is projected to have 2.6 points.
Miami Dolphins running back Matt Breida is listed as questionable for the team’s Week 10 matchup. So what should fantasy owners do if they own Breida and/or fellow Miami backs Jordan Howard or Patrick Laird? Let’s take a closer look.
Fantasy Football analysis: Dolphins RBs Matt Breida, Jordan Howard, Patrick Laird
Breida did not play in the Dolphins’ last time out, a 34-31 win over the Arizona Cardinals last Sunday. With him out, Howard received the majority of carries with 10 carries for 19 yards with a touchdown. Laird had just one carry and lost a yard, and he caught one pass for 17 yards. Salvon Ahmed carried the ball seven times for 38 yards to lead the Dolphins running backs.
Breida was a limited participant in Thursday’s practice as he battles back from a hamstring injury as the Dolphins continue to try and replace Myles Gaskin in the backfield.
Miami will be matched up with the Los Angeles Chargers, coming off a game in which they allowed 160 yards on 26 rushing attempts and a couple touchdowns to the Las Vegas Raiders. Devontae Booker carried the ball eight times for 68 yards, and Josh Jacobs finished with 65 yards on 14 carries.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Assuming Breida plays, he is nothing better than a low-end third running back for fantasy purposes. We saw what the backfield looks like without him, and none of the others should be considered for fantasy purposes.
