Game day update: Cleveland is under a high-wind warning starting at 1 p.m. ET. The National Weather Service is projecting winds of 20-30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph. If this is the case, we should certainly expect a decent workload for Duke Johnson Jr. and perhaps some increased usage in the short-passing game. Johnson could be in for a big day on volume alone.
The Houston Texans will lean on Duke Johnson to carry the load in the backfield this week against the Cleveland Browns. David Johnson is sitting out as he continues to recover from the concussion he suffered early in last week’s game against the Jaguars. With the lead role all to himself, Duke Johnson is a valuable fantasy football starter this week.
Fantasy Football analysis: Texans RB Duke Johnson Jr.
Duke had 16 carries last week with 41 yards and a touchdown against the Jaguars. He also caught four passes on four targets for 32 yards. He’s been a little more involved in the passing game in recent weeks anyway, giving him even more fantasy value without David Johnson on the field.
This week he’ll face a Browns that just gave up 129 yards to Josh Jacobs of the Raiders. Cleveland has given up seven rushing touchdowns to opposing backs this season and one receiving score.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Start Duke Johnson.
