In the women’s strawweight bout on the preliminary card of UFC Vegas 14, Randa Markos will fight Kanako Murata Saturday in Las Vegas and available on ESPN+.
The 35-year-old Markos is heading into the octagon with a professional fighting record of 10-10-1. She will be trying to snap a two-match losing streak in her third fight of this year. “Quiet Storm” Markos last fought in September at UFC Fight Night 178, where she lost to Mackenzie Dern in Round 1 by submission using an armbar.
Markos only lands 2.92 strikes per minute, but has a 41 percent striking accuracy. She also absorbs 3.30 strikes per minute with a defensive percentage of 59. The 5-foot-4 fighter has a takedown average per 15 of 1.32, but with an accuracy of 28 percent. However, she does a great job defending herself from takedowns at 58 percent.
As for Murata, she is walking into the UFC APEX with a professional fighting record of 11-1. The 27-year-old Japanese mixed martial artist is making her UFC debut on Saturday. She last fought in Nov. 2019 at Invicta FC 38, defeating Emily Ducote by a split decision.
A few months prior at Invite FC 35, Murata defeated Liana Ferreira Pirosin in Round 1 by submission using a rear-naked choke. Along with Invicta FC, Murata has competed at Rizin FF, Deep, Pancrase, Rizin 3, Rizin 2 - Rizin Fighting World Grand Prix 2016, Shoot Boxing, and KOTC.
