Denver Broncos running back Phillip Lindsay is questionable for Sunday’s matchup, with some final concussion protocol to work through. He is on track to play, per James Palmer, but fantasy managers should be checking injury reports as we get closer to the afternoon kickoff. Melvin Gordon owners should take notice as well.
If you have either of them or just have an interest in the Broncos backfield, let’s take a closer look.
Fantasy Football analysis: Broncos RBs Melvin Gordon, Phillip Lindsay
Lindsay did not do much at practice this week and is listed as questionable with a concussion he suffered during last week’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs. He finished with nine carries for 79 yards. If he is out, Gordon will likely be used as the workhorse back, though he did not play well on Sunday. He carried the ball 17 times for 68 yards with a touchdown, though he fumbled twice.
Denver will match up with the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday afternoon. The Chargers are coming off a victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars in which they allowed running back James Robinson to go for 119 yards on 22 carries with a touchdown.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
If Lindsay cannot play, Gordon can safely be used as a No. 2 running back for fantasy purposes. If Lindsay is able to go, Gordon is likely dropped to a No. 3 running back. Lindsay is likely a fourth running back at best this week if he’s able to play.
