For an offense that throws the ball as much as the Cincinnati Bengals do, you might think there would be enough targets to go around for the tight end to be a viable fantasy option. But, in this case, you would be wrong.
Fantasy Football analysis: Bengals TE Drew Sample
Sample just hasn’t been able to cash in on the gaudy production stats the way Tyler Boyd, Tee Higgins and A.J. Green, the team’s top three wide receivers, have. That’s part of the problem. With options like that, rookie quarterback Joe Burrow rarely needs to lean on his tight end.
Sample had a season-high 52 yards on five catches last week against the Browns. The week before that, Burrow didn’t even throw him the ball. Perhaps more telling about his usage patterns is that Sample has yet to find the end zone.
The Bengals play the Titans this week. And while they have shown some vulnerability against tight ends, Sample’s role in the offense just isn’t large enough to use him in fantasy lineups.
