UPDATE: Oct. 11, 6:07 p.m. — Davis will play in Game 6 vs. the Heat on Sunday night. He was listed as probable to play after injuring his heel in Game 5.
Saturday update: Anthony Davis is probable to play in Game 6, per Barry Jackson. Davis said he “will be fine” following Game 5.
Final Update: The Lakers lost 111-108 in Game 5 on Friday night. Davis finished out the game and scored 28 points and 12 rebounds. He looked to be laboring toward the end of the game, so we’ll see if Davis’ status for Game 6 on Sunday is in question. He could get the questionable tag on tomorrow’s injury report. We’ll keep track.
UPDATE: Davis is clearly ailing late in the game with that heel injury. He’s noticeably limping out there in the fourth quarter. The Lakers are trailing, but had battled back to take the lead mid-way through the quarter. LeBron is about to tie things up. If this goes to OT, you wonder if AD can keep going.
UPDATE: Davis appeared to re-aggravate a heel contusion he had been dealing with previously. The Lakers are down by 9 with a little under 4:00 left in the first half. Davis only has 8 points and 5 rebounds so far. L.A. is in trouble if they can’t go on a run and Davis is a big reason why the Lakers went up to an early 2-0 lead in the series.
Los Angeles Lakers PF Anthony Davis has gone to the locker room in the first quarter of Game 5 of the NBA Finals vs. the Miami Heat on Friday night. Davis appeared to injure his ankle/leg toward the end of the first quarter. He’s still around the bench area for the Lakers and hasn’t gone to the locker room yet. We’ll keep an eye on his status the rest of the game.
The Lakers say that Davis is available to return to the game after injuring his ankle. So looks like he avoided something serious even though it looked pretty serious when the injury went down.
