A pair of teams will start the college football weekend early with an ACC matchup when the Louisville Cardinals head on the road to play the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Friday, Oct. 9.

Louisville won its first game of the season against Western Kentucky but dropped its first two conference games versus Miami and Pitt. In the game against the Panthers on Sept. 26, Louisville quarterback Malik Cunningham was carted off the field with an injury late in the fourth quarter. According to head coach Scott Satterfield, Cunningham will be good to go against Georgia Tech.

Georgia Tech will enter this game at 1-2 as well with a win over Florida State and losses to UCF and Syracuse. Against the Orange on Sept. 26, Yellow Jackets quarterback Jeff Sims completed 13 of 28 passes for 174 yards with a touchdown. He appears to be a very talented quarterback on a team in rebuild mode, but he needs to limit the turnovers. Sims turned the ball over four times with interceptions and fumbled, though it was recovered by Georgia Tech.

In the only previous matchup between these two teams, Georgia Tech beat Louisville 66-31 in Louisville, Kentucky.

The Best Bet

Louisville came close to beating a quality Pitt team on the road in its last game. Though the Cardinals fell 47-34 to Miami, that high point total had a lot to do with several busted coverages for the Louisville, which should be fixed at this point. Georgia Tech beat Florida State, which appears to be really bad this season, and the Yellow Jackets were handled fairly easily against UCF and Syracuse. Based on what we’ve seen this season, there’s no reason Louisville shouldn’t be winning this game by more than a touchdown.

Pick: Louisville -6
