What to do with Cairo Santos, Ryan Succop in Week 5 fantasy football

Do either of the kickers in Thursday night’s game have value in your lineups?

NFL: Indianapolis Colts at Chicago Bears Mike Dinovo-USA TODAY Sports

If you’re lucky/unlucky enough to play in a fantasy league that uses kickers, neither one of these guys has done much for you this season. Cairo Santos, Chicago’s kicker, hasn’t had a game with multiple field goals since Week 2, his only one of the season. The Buccaneers have given Ryan Succop plenty of extra point opportunities lately, but he’s also got just one game with more than one field goal. But could that change this week?

Fantasy Football analysis: PKs Cairo Santos, Ryan Succop

First and foremost, take PAT attempts off the table. This game has all the makings of a low-scoring defensive struggle. Succop has had 13 extra point kicks this season, while Santos has just eight, the result of a more productive Buccaneers offense. Field goals have been hard to come by for both players, but it stands to reason they could get a few more attempts if this does turn out to be a slugfest.

Succop has the advantage here because the Buccaneers should be able to move the ball a little more effectively, putting him into reasonable field goal range.

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

Start Ryan Succop. Sit Cairo Santos.
