What to do with David Montgomery in Week 5 fantasy football

David Montgomery doesn’t have a great matchup against the Buccaneers in Week 5.

The Chicago Bears are spread thin at running back. Tarik Cohen out for the season with a torn ACL, so David Montgomery will be splitting carries with Cordarelle Patterson and a slew of other players. Let’s go over Montgomery’s fantasy outlook for his Week 5 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy Football analysis: Bears RB David Montgomery

Montgomery doesn’t have a single rushing touchdown and has been held under 50 rushing yards for two straight games. The Buccaneers have given up a league-low 73.9 rushing yards per game. Montgomery is just outside the top 15 with 53 carries and has caught nine passes on 15 targets. He’ll get his fair share of touches, but hasn’t done much with the opportunities he’s gotten so far.

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

Sit Montgomery against the best run defense in the NFL. He hasn’t done anything to show that he’s capable of having a breakout game against an elite front.
