Saturday update: The Broncos announced Fant is out for Week 5.

Thursday update: Fant worked with the trainers on Thursday, which is the first time he has done that since injuring is foot last Thursday, according to Jeff Legwold. Vic Fangio told the media Fant is a “longshot” to play this Sunday against the Patriots.

Denver Broncos tight end Noah Fant hasn’t been ruled out for their game against the Patriots, but coach Vic Fangio didn’t sound optimistic, per DNVR Sports’ Andrew Mason. Fant has a “mild high-ankle sprain.” He will be replaced by Jake Butt and possibly rookie Albert Okwuegbunam.

Fant has played well when healthy this season, as he’s accumulated 19 receptions for 219 yards and two touchdowns. If you have Fant rostered, you’re probably hoping he sits this one out, as he has nice upside moving forward, but a re-injury would keep him out even longer.

There is also the chance this game is rescheduled, as the Patriots top cornerback Stephon Gilmore tested positive for Covid 19. If there are anymore positive tests this week from the Patriots, the NFL may be quicker to shut things down after playing a Monday night game after Cam Newton’s positive test.
