The Minnesota Vikings have struggled to get anything going this season, coming in to this weekends game against the Houston Texans this weekend winless. Houston is 0-3 as well, but have faced a much tougher road to get to this point and have a pretty good passing defense through three weeks.
Fantasy Football analysis: Vikings TEs Irv Smith, Jr., Kyle Rudolph
Throughout the year, no Vikings TE has seen more than four targets in a game. Combined, both Rudolph and Smith Jr. have just six receptions and one touchdown all season. The Vikings have stuck to their strengths and have been running the ball a lot and have had a breakout receiver in rookie Justin Jefferson, who has been getting a lot of attention from QB Kirk Cousins.
The Texans defense is averaging under 200 total yards passing allowed each game. They have given up six touchdowns through the air, so that could be an opportunity for these big bodies to finally have an impact this year.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
This matchup is bad for any passing game to begin with. But when you factor in how Minnesota’s tight ends have fared so far this season and Jefferson’s impact in passing situations, the choice is clear. Sit these guys.
