Kenyan Drake is off to a great start this year and has solidified his spot in the “every week starter” category. Chase Edmonds showed promise in Week 1, but has seemingly settled back into the handcuff role that he has played the last few seasons. Fantasy Football analysis: Cardinals RBs Kenyan Drake, Chase Edmonds
Kenyan Drake is averaging 18 carries per game for an average of 73 yards per game over the first three weeks of the season. These numbers have not set the world on fire, and he has only managed to reach the endzone once, but workhorse backs are becoming more of a rarity these days and when you find one on a high scoring team the upside is undeniable. Drake faces a Carolina defense that gave Austin Ekeler a huge day in Week 3 as he took 12 carries for 59 yards and one touchdown, while adding 11 receptions for 84 yards. While he’s not known for his receiving role as much as Ekeler is, Drake can certainly be utilized in the passing game, and he is due to find the endzone again soon. Drake is a must start in all leagues.
Chase Edmonds scored 13.6 PPR points in Week 1, but has been quiet ever since, scoring 4.3 and 5.4 PPR points in Weeks 2 and 3 respectively. Edmonds has always been more of a handcuff than a starter, but his receiving abilities do provide some upside. The Carolina defense proved that they are susceptible to pass catching backs in Week 3, which may provide Edmonds with a decent floor. The big question mark is Edmonds’ usage, which is currently not enough to put faith in his ability to produce big numbers on a weekly basis. That being said, he can be a good flex fill-in this week for injury laden fantasy teams.
