Saquon Barkley is out for the year with a torn ACL, and the New York Giants have an interesting running back situation ahead of their Week 4 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. New York added Devonta Freeman in free agency following Barkley’s injury, but he’ll have to compete with Wayne Gallman and Dion Lewis for touches.
Fantasy Football analysis: Giants RBs Devonta Freeman, Wayne Gallman, Dion Lewis
This trio only combined for 17 rushing yards on 10 carries against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 3. While Freeman led the running backs in carries with five, he only averaged two yards per attempt. Freeman didn’t receive one target, but Gallman and Lewis did. There’s a chance that Freeman will be more involved in Week 4 after learning the offense a little better, but he hasn’t shown any of being the versatile threat he once was in his 2020 debut. The Rams have a dynamite offensive line led by Defensive Player of the Year candidate Aaron Donald, so it could be hard for any back to get going.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
None of these backs are worth starting in season-long fantasy, but Freeman might be worth a punt play in DFS.
