New York Giants running back Devonta Freeman is out of action for the team’s Week 8 Monday Night Football game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Freeman left last week’s game against the Eagles with an ankle injury that’s still bothering him. He was unable to practice all week.
Fantasy impact: Devonta Freeman (ankle injury)
Wayne Gallman took over the bulk of the workload in the Giants’ backfield last week after Freeman left the game. He finished with 34 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. Dion Lewis has not seen much work in the lineup lately; he’s been mostly limited to catching a few passes from week to week. He got three carries last week, after seeing just two in his previous four games, rushing for 23 yards on those attempts.
Gallman is a low-end option for fantasy purposes. The Giants are liable to be buried pretty quickly in this one.
